Sirsa, December 16
The Communist Party of India, the Haryana Kisan Sabha  and the Haryana Khet Mazdoor union  today organised a joint demonstration against the hike in petrol prices and on several other issues.
Activists of the three organisations reached the mini-secretariat in a procession and submitted a memorandum to the authorities.
The organisations, while condemning the hike in the prices of petrol, warned the government against any such decision on diesel.
Swaran Singh Virk, state committee member of the CPI, alleged that the UPA government at the Centre did not have any concern for the common people and the prices of petrol, which were already very dear, had been raised again.
Jai Chand Saharani, district secretary of the CPI, alleged that urea had become a scarce commodity at a time when farmers needed it the most.
The Left organisations also drew the attention of the authorities towards the plight of members of a poor family at Bachher village, who they alleged, had been thrown out of their house made on panchayat land.
Virk maintained that the family of Shokin Nath possessed the ration card, BPL card and electricity connection and yet the family had been thrown out of their house in an inhuman manner.
